Hello...

My name's Deb, how lovely to meet you! I'm so glad you stopped by...

In November 2008 I made my first sock monkey (yep, that's him alright)....and as they say...the rest is history...

In February 2009, Sock It To Me! was born and my life used to consist of Teza by day (Good afternoon, you're speaking to Chaos Control & Crayon Girl, how may i help?) and monkey business by night.

It was very exciting but I left my home and reality for a crazy journey of enlightenment around Asia. So, here I am soaking up the sights and sounds of sunny Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and working for CLEO, the coolest mag ever. Thanks again for stopping by, sit back, relax and Happy Reading!

xoxo Miss Deb

On a mission...

Hello my darlings...how you doing?

Yeah, I'm doing well...as you've noticed I'm on a mission...
In summary my aim is to stop all forms of procastination!

I want to get my stuff sorted for Kraftbomb way in advance as opposed to the usual frantic mad rush to the finish line the night before...

I want to start journalling/writing properly which after much thought I've realized the only thing that's holding me back is the inability to decide what sort of notebook would suit me best. (I think I've cracked it now but of course it's the most labour intensive option that is the most appealing hah!)

I want to be saving lots and lots of moolah. There's a wee chance that I might be heading back to Malaysia for a few months so it would be silly to not travel South East Asia properly when I'm there. A little dosh would help fuel my craft addiction when I'm trawling textile markets in Vietnam and Cambodia, don't cha think?! And yes, wishlists are welcome X

Why am I writing all this here you ask? It's a little something we learnt at Discovery camp called...commitment. The thing about commitment is that once you involve someone else in the equation (in this case that is you) you have made it terribly difficult/annoying/inexcusable to back out of things. Making a commitment to yourself is just not the same as we are all guilty of being just a little more lenient with ourselves because we know the 'situation' haha...
I am a true believer that anyone who makes a promise has to keep it and if you don't think you can fulfill something then don't promise, right?! :P Living your word is another thing we were taught at camp...funny how we get so used to lying and making excuses so we don't look bad but really it would all be less complicated if we said what we meant and did as we said.

So anyhoo...now that I have said those things aloud (so to speak in blog-land) you get to call me on it if I don't do as I say...you get to ask as often as you like whether I've made any headway on saving or how many monkeys have I gotten thus far for k-bomb. As annoying as that sounds it is actually only annoying if I haven't done as I've said...if I have, I'd only be too happy to tell you!

Have yourself an awesome Thursday, precious!

xoxo

  1. Wonderful post Deb!!

    We all procastinate don't we?

Well, just do what I do! Everyday, or everyweek that I don't record or create or scrapbook etc is everyday I waste and an idea that i might forget. So that's my incentive.

Even if you just scribble down thoughts, ideas and memories then at least thats a start (:(:

Choose a way to record sweetie, and do it. You know you can.

    xx.

Niella: That's a brilliant way of looking at it...ideas are a precious commodity...I think that perspective is going to motivate me too! Thanks! Will have to show you the visual diary I have with me at all times now with little drawings and scribbles. It almost feels like one of those secret journals you share with your friends when your little..reading pass entries, no matter how succint can bring back memories of days and weeks even!

Mingming: Hahah silly girl...of course I've timed my trip back so i get to see you. I've missed you and Linny so so much...we're gonna have to take lots of photos to make up for lost time eh?!

Bee: Hahah, whatever girly! Its about finding the right sort of motivation...you stopped putting off updating your ETSY shop the other so I know you can do it! And if you don't do as you say both Niella and I will give you a light smack on the wrist to remind you that YOU are a rare ans unique commodity on this planet so leave your mark in the form of making stuff, thoughts or doodles whenever the opportunity presents itself! X
